The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was
called to order at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Hartshorn, Fowle, Fairclough, Barnes and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
A letter was received from Ole S. Swensen, #515 Haverhill
St. relative to conditions of drainage thereon. Superintendent to
investigate and report.
A written complaint about filling in driveway with snow
was received from Mrs. Charles H. Stinchfield, 20 Highland St.
A record of requirements by Mr. Dewsnap, Franklin St.
received and filed.
On the request of Walter S . Dearborn, Adjutant of the
American Legion it was voted unanimously to comply therewith.
Secretary so replied.
It was voted unamimously to pay one day's pay extra to
each employee who worked February 22, the holiday.
A hearing was held at 8:00 P. M. on the acceptance of Third
and Cedar Sts. Mr. Benjamin Nichols , Mr. Charles H. Gillespi, Mr.
Buck and Mr. J. E. Ireland appeared in favor. No objections. Voted
unanimously.
Mr. Gillespie requested that some steps be taken to protect
property around the new standpipe. The abuttors are annoyed by
"Parkers" at night. They throw rocks at the standpipe.
A hearing was held on County Road, Board of Survey Layout

at 8:30 P. M. Mr. Jesse Thorne, Representative Mrs . Sweetser, Mrs.
William J. Steele, Mr. M. W. Farr, Mr. Frank E. Clements , Mr. 0. L.
Delong, Mr. Wm Muse, Mr. & Mrs. William White, Mr. & Mrs . William
Roberts, Mr. & Mrs. George A. White, Mr. Arthur Coolidge were present.
Objectors - Sarah W. Lewis, Abbie J. Hughes, H. B. Locke.
Mr. Manning for Hughes Estate in person.
A hearing was held on the Board of Survey layout of Van
Norden Road at 9:00 P. M. Mr. & Mrs. John Stickland, Mr. & Mrs . Fred
Burns, Mr. R. Turner, Mr. T. Turner, Mr. Louis S. Doucette, Mr. Frank
Gromiko, Mr. R. Howard, Mr. John Hoptuck and Mr . B. Lehan all in
favor and signed application and release.
Voted to authorize Superintendent to hire four trucks for
snow removal.
Voted to have Davis & Abbott survey County Road.
Board met with Finance Committee and proposed to: Scarify
and seal certain streets.
$5,000 Town's part in resurfacing West St.
Middlesex Ave. and Lowell St. bituminous Macadam.
Highway Garage.
Board adjourned at 11:30 P . M.
