HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-02-09 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass . , February 9, 1934. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Hartshorn, Fairclough, Fowle, Barnes and Superintendent Birnie were present. The records of the previous meeting were read and approved. A letter was received from Bay State Nurseries offering advice on C. W. A. beautification projects. The Board considered delinquent water bills which might be liened. A hearing was held at 5:00 P. M. on the location of 14 poles on Grove St. from the Golf Club, Northerly, to the driveway to the new Pumping Station as shown on Plan No. 402, as petitioned by the Municipal Light Department. Mr. Iverson appeared in favor especially asking that the public street be lighted. Mr. Arthur Sias, Supt. of the Municipal Light Department appeared and said that the poles were necessary to install street lights. The Meadow Brook Golf Club was represented by Mr. Fletcher Twombly, President, Mr. W. Homer Morrison and Mr. E. 0. Kenney, Sr. They asked that about 300 ft. be put underground so as not to inter- fere with the Course; otherwise, they are in favor of the petition. The Secretary wrote advising the Municipal Light Department and the Telephone Co. that the Golf Club requested that 300 ft. be put under- ground. _2_ 1 Board considered C. W. A. Projects and later with the Board of Selectmen and Welfare Board 9:30 to 11:25 P. M. Superintendent reported that about twenty water meters were frozen yesterday and today.
