HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-12-01 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass . , December 1, 1933 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was ' called to order at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Hartshorn, Fowle, Fairclough, Barnes and Superintendent Birnie were present. The records of the previous meeting were read and approved. A Hearing on the laying out of Ellis Ave. Extension was held at- 7:30 P. M. Mr. Arthur F. Hopkins , 26 Scotland Road appeared asking that the road be further extended so that he could have en- trance to this Street. He was given a Board of Survey application for his and other abuttors signatures. A circle could be added. No other appearances. Board signed plans. A petition was received asking that the condition of the , surface of Hopkins St. from So. 'Main St. to the Wakefield line be improved before snow comes ; signed by Fred L. Douglass, 125 Hopkins St. and seven other abuttors. The Superintendent said that next week he could start work on this street. This was approved by the Board. Weston & Sampson, Const. Engr's. gave an analysis sheet of a partial analyses of our watey supply and recommended that cement lined service pipe be used. The Superintendent submitted a sample. A notice from the Town Accountant was received relative to preparing estimates for the coming year. A letter was received from Ernest B. Dade, 104 Hillcrest Parkway, Winchester, asking for information relative to our new ' water supply. The Secretary wrote in answer to his letter. ' -2- Dec. 1, 1933. The ChairmanandSecretary of the Planning Board met with us relative to surveys of the Public Streets, numbering, etc. Mr. Raymond Donahue and three others on Longwood Road appeared asking for drainage relief claiming that water stands in street. Mr. Charles R. Herrick appeared asking that he be given well drilling work under the C. W. A. program at the prevailing prices. There is pipe available only for three wells . But Board thought that some survey work might be available for him. Board voted to send notices to abuttors for Grove St. ' layout between forest and Franklin Streets. Voted to buy sufficient paint to paint the Highway equip- ment. Voted to have the Superintendent prepare a Town map show- ing what streets are to be surveyed.
