The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was
called to order at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Hartshorn, Fairclough, Fowle, Barnes
and Superintendent were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Howland Whitehouse and Mr. Carter of Harrison St.
appeared asking that the Board provide a hockey rink 60' x 160'
4' high, lighted for night play. They were informed that matter
will be given consideration and they will be informed later.
Chairman said that the school $50. was not available to
build a fence at Washington St. Playground.
The Town Counsel reports that under Section 14, Chapter ,
45, G. L. an admission fee may be charged on public playgrounds.

Mr. Fitzroy Willard, Pratt St. called and was informed
that filling will be put in Pratt St. this week.
A letter was received from Mr. Elmer B. Lincoln, 12 Echo '
Ave. thanking Board for its vote of last week and saying that the
charge of $9.50 is entirely satisfactory and enclosing his check
for same.'
A letter was received from L. G. Bent, Clerk of the Board
of Selectmen; informing this Board that H. S. Manley, 20 Manning St. ,
complained that a stack of cord wood interferes with traffic and
pedestrians. Town Clerk's records of 1864 shows Manning St. to ,
be 33 Ft. wide. Superintendent has not had opportunity of measur-
ing to determine location of the wood with reference to the street.

Mr. Frank A. Edwards, 21 Salem St. appeared and was in-
formed that when ditching work is done the ditch near his house
will be straightened.
A petition for the relocation of a pole No. 104/31
Westerly 23 feet on Woburn St. opposite Temple St. was re-
ceived from the Municipal Light Department. So voted and signed
by the Chairman.
The Chairman informed Board that a meeting of the Law
Committee is called for next Monday P. M. to discuss Town Counsel's
duties, etc. , and asked what questions Board wished to have him
ask the Law Committee with relation thereto.
The proposed change in the Reading-Woburn line was
discussed.
The Superintendent submitted a revised estimate of cost
of supplying water to Angelo Zanni in Criterion St. Off Grove St.
amounting to $296.07, costing him $11.84 per yr. , ledge not in-
cluded. Voted to put pipe in.
Mr. Gilmet, Libby Ave. , appeared asking information as
to costs in Libby Ave. construction. It was proven to him that
his costs were based on 49¢ per foot as committed.
Mr. Fowle reported that Mrs. Gordon requests an illumin-
ated sign at the entrance to Memorial Park. No money is available
this year.
' The Superintendent reported that the Board of Health
is going to force the John St. Laundry to connect with the sewer.

Mr. Harnden of Welfare Board appeared relative to
cutting trees on the water supply land at the Pumping Station.
He and Superintendent to look situation over Saturday afternoon.
The Chairman and Fire Chief are . to view situation Monday after-
noon.
Mr. Felix Arsenault appeared relative to his water bill
at 83 Green St. which has jumped from $3.00 to $13.15. Voted that
no abatement can be made but Board will give him one day's work
extra the next two weeks. He also applied for the job at the
John St. Dump for next year.
Meeting adjourned at 10:00 P. M.
