The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was
called to order at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs . Putnam, Fairclough, Fowle, Barnes and Superin-
tendent Birnie were present.
Board met at corner of Lowell & Grove Sts. at 7:40 P. M.
and consulted all abuttors who were interested in the relocation
of Grove St. to corner of Forest St. and reconvened at office at
8: 50 P. M. after viewing the boulder at the Willow St. Railroad
Crossing.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
' Mr. John E. Morris, 29 Warren Ave. appeared relative
to his water bill of $30.70. He is working three days a week for
the Welfare Department and is willing to work one or more days
extra, which amount he is perfectly willing to contribute towards
paying off his water bill. The Board is to take this matter up
with the Welfare Department tonight.
The Board voted to notify the Board of Selectmen that
it has viewed the boulder at the Willow St. Railroad Crossing,
which the Secretary did by letter.
Mr. Davis, Town Counsel, consulted with the Board
relative to change in the Reading-sWoburn Town line.
The Secretary received a letter from Mr. Kendall, the
Secretary and Engineer of the Middlesex County Commissioners,
' reporting that he believed the establishing of grades in South
Main and Ash Streets was the duty of the State Department of

Public Works, and advised requesting their cooperation. The
Chairman is to take this matter up with the State Department.
A letter was received from Perini & Ampollini, General
Contractors , asking for any type of road construction work,
also advising us of their equipment, which is available on a
rental basis.
Voted to purchase 300 lbs. of Chassis lubricant at
5¢ per lb. from S. R. Stembridge if it meets with the Superintendent's
approval.
Voted to request the Eastern Massachusetts Street Rail-
way remove rails from Washington St. , starting at So. Main St.
to John St. down John St. to Wakefield line, (see copy of ,
letter) and instructed Superintendent to proceed with work.
The Welfare Board met with us relative to a bill of
$65.45 for labor hauling wood for Welfare work. Welfare Board
decided to give John E. Morris one day's work a week extra and
credit his water bill $2.40 per week until bill is paid if our
Board would take care of the $65.45 labor bill. AdJourned 11:27
