The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fairclough, Fowle, Barnes and Superintendent
Birnie were present.

Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Keating, 133 Haven St. appeared objecting to his
water bill. He reported that the old meter was stopped and a new
meter since been installed and asked that payment on the last bill -
be held up so as to compare with the amount used the coming six
months. The reading just made shows that the old meter showed
twice the amount used that the new meter shows. The Board so voted.
Mr. Timothy Cullinane, 123 Washington St. appeared object- '
ing to his water bill amounting to $5.80. On account of, the meter
having, stopped the Board voted to adjust the bill to the amount shown
in the meter reading, namely $3.35. Mr. Cullinane was satisfied
with this adjustment.
Mr. Batchelder of No. Main St. appeared requesting the
use of the Steam Roller for about one hour. The Board said that
private use had never been allowed and does not feel that we can
change this rule now.
Mr. Edward J. White, 77 Lowell St. asked if the Board is
going to retain the bank with a wall on the North side of Winthrop .4ve.

felt that a wall would not be necessary.
The Board voted to make a deposit of $1.00 with the
Texas Co. for the year' s use of an oil tank already installed at
the Highway Barn on John St.
The Board agreed to grant an extension of one week for
payment of water bill of Mrs . C. A. Benner, Libby Ave.
Mr. Davis, Town Counsel is to get in touch with the
Reading SoftWater Laundry to see if it can continue monthly
payments on overdue water bill.
The Board voted to lav 125 Ft. of 1 1/4" water pipe in
Copeland Ave. to connect with Woburn St. pipe so as to relieve
conditions there. The Secretary acknowledged Mr. William S.
Dennison' s letter and notified him of the Board' s action.
The Board voted to adjust water bill of George L. Doyle
at 33 Curtis St. from $18.80 to $6.00.
A letter was written to J. Shipkin, owner of property at
No. 114 Hopkins St. notifying him that the Board holds him re-
sponsible for the water bill and requests payment of same.
The Board voted to clear up the Willow St. pit and
store curb down on the John St. dump.
The Board voted to purchase a lawn mower. Superintendent
to investigate.
The Board voted to install a railing on steps in Memorial
Park with two rails.
Meeting adjourned at 10:40 P. M.
