Reading, Mass . , March 17, 1933•
The Regular Meetingof the Board of Public Works was
called to order at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fowle and Barnes were present. Superin-
tendent also present.
Mr. Fowle acted as Secretary.
Records of previous meeting read and accepted.
Mr. Rosario Valido of Haverhill St. interviewed the Board
relative to the construction of a water main from Bay State Rd. to
his house. He was informed that he would have to guarantee 4% of
the cost, which is estimated at about $1000.00. Cost is figured
on the cost of 6" pipe only, the Board agreeing to use welfare labor
to lay the pipe. Mr. Valido is to consider the matter and if
favorable to him will make application for same.
Board voted to accept agreement granting the Town the
right to take gravel from the pit owned by Meadow Brook Golf Club,
said agreement as drawn up by Town Counsel. Agreement sent to
Golf Club for acceptance and signatures.
Voted to notify Silas Henry Carroll that we will cancel
the easement for the ensuing year, covering the removal of sand and
gravel from his premises on Grove Street; Superintendent to prepare
letter to be signed by the Board next Friday night.

1 Board voted to grant First National Stores permit to
install and maintain chute in front of premises #204 Main St.
Bond given by them is satisfactory to Town Counsel. Chute to be
installed under supervision and acceptance of Building Inspector.
Matter of drain on West Street at Woburn-Reading line
discussed and referred to Town Counsel for his opinion as to whether
or not it is legal to install drain pipe on Russell property which
is in Woburn. Town Counsel will report next Friday night.
Received for our files the following orders of taking
for layout of streets , all of which have been duly recorded in the
Registry of Deeds :-

Voted to reduce hours of man employed at dump to 6 hrs.
per day and make pay $12.00 per week. This is made necessary by
the cut in the appropriation.
