HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-02-17 Board of Public Works Minutes ' Reading, Mass. , February 17, 1933. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P. M. Messrs . Putnam, Merrill, Fairclough and Fowle present; Superintendent also present. Mr. Putnam acted as Chairman for this meeting. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Board voted to repair jack hammer at cost of about $26.00. Board voted to authorize the Superintendent to purchase necessary Crusca Bits and Rods for use in rock excavation. Articles for Town 4larrant discussed. Petition received from N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co. and ' Municipal Light Board for permission to install four poles on Glen Road, from Summer Avenue easterly. Petition granted. Hearing held at 8 P. M. on the laying out of that part of Grove Street, from Lowell Street to Franklin Street. The Following appeared: Mr. Frank Bessom Mr. Benj. Downs M. W. H. Becker Mr. Chester Stevens Mr. John W. Emerson All were in favor of the layout as per plan submitted, with the exception of Mr. J. W. Emerson and Mr. W. E. Knox, who objected by letter. -2- February 19, 1933• Cont. ' The Board agreed to leave two trees in place in front of Mr. Bessom's property. Matter laid on table until next Friday Evening. Board voted to allow the Legion to transfer from Barry's Garage to -Victory House such of the bleachers as are required for their use for wrestling matches. Balance of bleachers to be stored at Memorial Park. Board was interviewed by ten residents of County Road in regard to installation of water and the building of the highway. Rep. Mollis A. Sweetser, Chief Ordway, Mr. Arthur Coolidge, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. J. Steele, and Mr. Asa Crowell spoke in favor. The Chair- man informed them of the proper procedure to pursue to obtain the result desired. Superintendent to make estimate for building of this road under the Betterment Act and Board requested residents to meet with this Board again on March 24th for further discussion. Board voted to change the sidewalk polwing routes of Angelo and George Zanni with those of Percy Sweetser. Superintendent also to carefully check time of the Zannies on the next snow stbrm.
