HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-02-10 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , February 10, 1933. ' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fairclough, Merrill and Fowle present; Superintendent also present. Mr. Merrill acted as Chairman for this meeting. Records of previous meeting read and accepted. Letter received from State Department of Public Works stating that they were willing for this Board to estimate the cost to grade and gravel the entire length of Haverhill Street. Hearing held by the Board of Public Works on the acceptance of Weston Road under the Betterment Act. Messrs. E. V. Sillars and J. E. Richardson, Jr. appeared. Board informed them that the cost to the abuttors in constructing the drain on this street would not exceed 76¢ per foot frontage and the above gentlemen agreed that this was satisfactory to them. Board voted to prepare an article for the acceptance of this street at the annual town meeting. Hearing held by the Board of Public Works on the acceptance of Park Street under the Betterment Act. The following appeared and all were in favor of constructing this street at a maximum cost of 76¢ per foot frontage. Frank Surette Oscar Lowe Henry L. LeFave J. Raymond Johnson Mrs. Poore. -2- The matter of changing the name of Park Street was discussed and it was the consensus of opinion that the name should be changed to Chestnut Road. Hearing was held by the Board of Public Works on the relocation and laying out of Grove Street from Lowell Street to Franklin Street. Fourteen appeared and some objection was raised. No objection from Forest St. to Franklin St. Hearing was continued until next Friday evening. Meeting adjourned at 10:40 P. M. A True Record: Attest:- , Signed: Robt. E. Fowle Secretary
