HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-12-09 Board of Public Works Minutes -I- Reading, Mass. , Dec. 9,1932• The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Putnam, Fairclough and Merrill were present: Superintendent also present. Mr. Fairclough acted as Chairman for this week' s meeting. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Superintendent suggests that 600 ft. of 12" pipe of two catch basins on West Street would care for Mr. Ray's complaint. Board voted to install the two catch basins. David Schurman, 386 Haverhill St. , requested Board to extend payment of his water bill of $131.00 to Feb. 1, 1933• Board ' ,requested the Superintendent to investigate and report. Superintendent reports that the sewer was inspected from John and Village Sts. to drop main hole on Brook Street and many leaks were found. Superintendent reported that Mac's Lunch would make first payment this week on his water bill. Mr. Charles C. Cushing of No. 42 Howard St. contends that Town is discharging moxewater than pipe is able to carry through his land. He requested Town to remove this pipe from present location to Sigsbee Ave. Superintendent to investigate. Hearing held at 8 P.M. on change of pole location, corner of Palmer Hill Avenue and Longview Road. No one appeared. Board ' signed same. Board voted to install a sidewalk between Grand Street and High Street on the west side of Lowell Street, provided no objections raised by abutters. December 9, 1932. Cont. ' Board voted to pruchase 1200 ft. of 12" Spun Class "B" Pipe of Warren Pipe and Foundry Co. @ $1.1$ per foot F.O.B. Truck on job.
