HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-10-21 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass. , October 21,. 1932, The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was , called to order at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Hartshorn, Putnam, Merrill, Fairclough and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of previous maeting 'read and accepted. Superintendent reported that 278 feet of 3/4" water pipe on King St. between Summer Ave. and Prosnect St. should be replaced with a 1 1/2" pipe. Voted to relay in same location. A Letter was received from D. MacLean relative to a gravel sidewalk in front of his property at #65 Grand St. Voted to nut sidewalk in shape. A Letter was received from Percy C . Coulter, 45 Vine St. , relative to cost of granblithic sidewalk, asking an itemized ' bill. Also similar letters received from Chester W. Pierce, 55 Vine St. ; and Mrs . Gladys Pestana at 35 Vine St. Superintendent to send itemized bill m reouested . A hearing was held at 8 P.M. , renuesting a pole location at the corner of Palmer Hill Avenue and Longview Road , also to validate existinn pole, in former private way now made a Public Street, by the Municipal Light Dept. Both locations are shown on notices of said hearing that were sent to: Michael J. Zynsky, 35 Temple St. , Reading, Hazel S. Cleary, Palmer Hill Avenue, " Mr. Raymond H. Cleary appeared in answer to above notice and o_`fered no objections. Board voted to grant location and validate existing pole and signed petition. -2- ' - - Oct. 211 1932 Cont. Mr. L. H. Webster, 92 John St. , appeared before the Board relative to drainage trouble in ditch running through. Green and Pleasant Street's near Laundry. Requests that d-itch be cleaned so. that his property will not be flooded. Superintendent to clean ditch. Mrs . Laura Gordon appeared objecting to condition of sidewalk at #15 Linden St. in H-ont of her property. The Superintendent to investigate and report. "Are details dot"I - all prepared for a hearing relative to drain in Klang property Oct. .28, 1932?" Board voted (if legal according to the Town Counsel's opinion) to abate water bill of Mr. Charles Gorus, corner of Orange and Winter Streets . Board adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
