HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-09-30 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , Sept. 30, 1932. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. ' Messrs. Hartshorn, Putnam, Merrill, Fairclough and the Superintendent were present. approved. Minutes of P g revious meetin read and Mr. Fairclough to act as Secretary pro tem. A Letter received from C. A. Schmitt re traffic conditions at corner of Summer Ave. and Mineral St. and turned over to the Board of Selectmen. A card was received from the State Department of Public Works - notifying us of a hearing for Middlesex County at the Court House at East Cambridge, Thursday, Oct. 6, 1932, at 2 P.M. relative to Public Roads. Board voted to and signed motions for the Laying Out of ' Smith Ave. , and the relocation of Longwood Road. A Hearing was held at 8 P.M. on the Board of Survey approval of Bates Avenue. John F. Rand, Engineer, and Mr. Philip B. Carter, Attorney for Mr. Bates, appeared and requested that the location be moved one (1) foot to the South of its present location and stop one (1) foot to the East of the property of John A. and Mabel A. Roden. The Heirs of the Estate of Howard M. Batchelder appeared, objecting to the use of the name of "Bates Avenue," but do not object to its location. . Mr. Warren Killam, Jr. , their Attorney, will notify the Board of his decision as to signing release. Mr. John A. Roden appeared and had no objection to its ' approval but did not approve of location of the proposed extension across his land. Mr. Roden signed the release. Meeting adjourned at 8: 50 P.M.
