HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-09-23 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass. , Sept. 231 1932. ' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. All Members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted. Letter dated September 19, 1932, received from Metropolitan District Commission, in further reference to the leakage of ground water into the sewer system. The Chariman of the Board answered this letter on September 22, 1932, informing themasto our efforts in .correcting this situation. Mr. Bogle of 41 Washington St. interviewed the Board and requested the Board to erect a fence between his property and the Ball Park. Superintendent to estimate cost and report at next , meeting. Superintendent also to write Board of Selectmen, asking for police assistance in keeping people off this property during evening football games. Contract between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Town of Reading signed, covering the resurfacing of Main Street through Reading Square under Chapter 90. Order for Sidewalk Assessment on Lots 043 & #43-A on Elliott St. signed. Matter of replacing 1 1/4" water main on Washington St. with a 6" Min discussed. Superintendent was instructed to get prices on materials and report at a later date. -2- Sept. 23, 1932. Request from Lleland Kingman for curbing on California Road to be installed this year by the abutters and reimbursed by the Town next year. Superintendent to write him that same can not be installed this year. Order for levy and collection of betterment assessments on Longwood Road signed. Ruling as to the time limit for taking possession of a private way after the Town has accepted such way, received from the Town Counsel. Ruling refers to Section 3 Chapter 79 as amended. Placed on file. Ruling received from the Town Counsel relative to the ' liability of the Town for an injury or damage sustained upon a way laid out or established as prescribed by statute.
