Reading, Mass. , August 19, 1932•
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called
to order at 7:30 P.M.
All members and the Superintendent were present.
Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted,
Two petitions received signed by 101 voters of the Town
requesting the Board to construct the entire surface of Reading
Square in cement.
Motion made and seconded that that portion of a vote passed
July $, 1932, which reads: "with the balance of the Square of
bituminous macadam" be rescinded. So voted.
Motion made and seconded as follows:-
Inasmuch as petitions have been received from the Townspeople
' requesting that Reading Square exclusive of the 40' strip be
surfaced. with cement, and realizing that the cost may be
approximately $2500.00 more.
MOVED: That the balance of Reading Square Construction
Job, excluding the 40' strip, be resurfaced with cement, and
that this cost and other costs to date do not exceed our
appropriation of $21,000.00 It was so voted.
Bids received from the following for crushed stone:-
Sheehan Construction Co.
Wm. C. Doherty, Inc.
Lynn Sand & Stone Co.
General Crushed Stone Co.
Malden Crushed Stone Co.
Copies filed herewith.
Bids taken under consideration.

Letter received from Fathers & Mothers Club expressing
appreciation to this Board in regard to the laying of a water
service to their new camp.
Voted to'construct cement sidewalks for the balance of
. applications now on hand.
Letter received from Town Counsel relative to lay-out of
Vine St. Superintendent to take up with Town Clerk to see if
plan has ever been recorded.
Contract with P. S. Holland signed .for the construction of
the 40-foot strip of cement highway through Reading Square.
Bids from the following received for asphalt:
The Texas Co.
Trimount 011 Co.
Standard 011 Co. N. Y.
Copies filed herewith. Matter taken under consideration.
Meeting adjourned at 9:25 P.M.
