HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-08-05 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass. , .August 5, 1932. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 9:30 P.M. Messrs. Hartshorn, Merrill, Fairclough and the .Superintendent were present. Mr. Fairclough acted as Secretary Pro Tem. Superintendent reported on well drilling,.progress. Superintendent said Mr. Kendall, County Engineer, asked what had been done about Haverhill Street. Superintendent to see the three objectors and report. Superintendent asked permission to paint all hydrants in town. So voted, Superintendent to decide on color. A letter was received from State Departmentcof Public Works; A. W. Dean, Chief Engineer advising that bids for work on Square will be opened t ..12 Noon on Tuesday, Aug, 9, 1932, Room 413 State House, Boston. Board is invited to be present if it so desires. A letter was received from the Reading Co-Operative Bank requesting the acceptance of Park St. The Superintendent is to see Mr. Johnson. The Planning Board wrote suggesting that a study be made of Memorial Park, similar to that made of Birch Meadow. Superintendent to answer, saying that Board feels it a very excellent idea and would be glad to receive any such plan, but it absolutely has no money with which to do this work. Hearing held on Tower Road at 8 P.M. No appearances. Board voted to accept under Board of Survey. -2- August 5, 1932 Cont. Hearing held on Fair Road at 8:15 P.M. Mr. Alfred H. Parsons and Mr. Harry C. Goodwin appezred favorably. Board voted toaccept under Board of Survey. A Petition received from Municipal Light Dept. requesting sole ownership of 7 poles on High St. near Lowell St. and 1 pole on High St. N. W. of Middlesex Ave. as per plan filed.
