HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-07-29 Board of Public Works Minutes -I- Reading, Mass. , July 29, 1932. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. All Members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted. Letter received from the Malden & Melrose Gas Light Co. relative to the depth for the laying of gas mains. Placed on file. Letter received from Town Counsel enclosing check for $10.00 on a-count of water bill of Reading soft Water Laundry Inc. Motion made and seconded that we engage the services of ' Weston & Sampson to prepare a report on the matter of hydrant rentals, same not to exceed cost of $100.00. Four members voted in favor and Mr. Putnam against. Order for sidewalk assessments on Thorndike Street signed. Petition received from N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co, for permission to lay condtits on Salem Street as per plan. Petition granted. Letter received from Charles J. Gorman, 59 Green St. , requesting abatement on sewer bill due to leak between meter box and house. Voted to average his previous bills and abate balance. Superintendent reported Marie C. Pratt of 33 Mt. Vernon St. and Bradford G. Savage, #2 Thorndike St. were financially unable at this time to allow construction of cement sidewalk abutting ' their property. Board voted to lay the matter on the table. -2- July 29, 1932. Cont. Reruest from Fathers & Mothers Club, through its President, Mrs. A. A. Libby, that the Board allow them to lay a water pipe to their new camp on Forest Street on top of ground. Board voted to lay this pipe underground, charging them only for the materials.
