HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-07-15 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass. , July 15, 1932• ' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Hartshorn, Putnam, Merrill and Fowls were present. Superintendent also present. Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted. Letter received from J. Earle Thompson in regard to permits to use the tennis courts at Memorial Park. Placed on File Letter received from Hydraulic Development Corps, offering to purchase any 3" or 4" used pipe which we wish to sell. Superintendent to write them we have none for sale. Signed plan of the Malden & Melrose Gas Light Co. , showing ' proposed location of 6" gas main in Harvest Road. It was voted to rescind the vote made last February wherein the rate for extra labor was to be 50¢ per hour. Voted that all extra labor shall be at the rate of 400 per hour. Petition received from N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co. for permission to lay and maintain underground conduits and manholes on Woburn St. , northwest side from a point approximately ten feet southwesterly from the southwest street line of Lowell Street, northeasterly approximately sixty (60) feet. Petition granted. Petition received from N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co. and Municipal Light Board for permission to use jointly ten (d0) poles on Forest St. (from Grove St. easterly as per plan) now owned by ' the Municipal Light Department. Petition granted. -2- July 15, 1932. Cont. , Petition received from N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co. and Municipal . Light Board for permission to relocate pole #101/1 on Willow St. as per plan. Petition granted.. . Mr. Frank Tanner, representing the School Committee, interviewed the Board relative to obtaining filling for the Junior High School playground. - Board. voted to allow the regular employees to have Traders.Day off with pay.
