HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-07-01 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- ' Reading, Mass. , July 11 1932• The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. All Members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted. Bids received from Wendell, Bancroft & Co. and Fred F. Smith for approximately 1,000 bags of cement. Copies filed herewith. Board voted to buy same from Fred F. Smith at 49 3/4 cents per bag. Mr. S. B. Hamilton appeared before the Board and quoted price of $150.00 each, for drilling twelve wells, plus compensation and land insurance, in Line "D" at New Pumping Station. So. 9oted. Application received from Gladys E. Pestana, 35 Vine St. , , for construction of a granolithic sidewalk, to be assessed under the betterment act. So Voted. A. P. Rounds interviewed the Board in regard to allowance for grading around New Pumping Station. No action taken. .Request received from Kingman & Richardson for curbing in front of lots #41, 42 - 43 on California Road. Application placed on file. Request .received from W. C. Powers for use of Washington Street Ball Field by the Reading Town Team for July 4th. Permission granted. Communication and sample form of permit, for use in granting ' permits for signs overhanging sidewalks, received from Town Counsel. Voted to refer back to Town Counsel to draft regulations. -2- July 1, 1932, Cont. ' Request received from Municipal Light Department to relocate two poles at corner of Lowell and Grove Sts .
