HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-06-10 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass.. , June 10, 1932. The Rdgulpr Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P .M. All Members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted. Harry C. Goodwin and Alfred H. Parsonson appeared before the Board and presented petition from residents of Fair Road for acceptance of that street. They were given releases to be signed by abutters In preparation of the acceptance of this street under the Betterment Act. Opinion received from Town Counsel relative to the apportionment of Sewer Assessment of Annie Kelsey. Inasmuch as this assessment was levied in 1930 it is now too late to apportion. Bill referred to Tax Collector for collection. Board.,voted to allot $800.00 from the appropriation on Parks to the Woman's Club' Playground Committee for use at Memorial Park. Secretary instructed to write Mrs. Gordon to that effect and express our appreciation for her co-operation in reducing the expenditures of this Department. Letter received from Cemetery Trustees, requesting our Department to tar certain streets within Laurel Hill Cemetery. Voted to do this work at their expense. Town Counsel turned over check for $50.00 collected account of Water Bill of Reading Soft Water Laundrey, Inc. Letter received from Melvin H. Meuse requesting the widening ' and regarding of Winthrop Avenue at the corner of Lowell Street. Referred to Superintendent. -2- June 10, 1932. Cont. , Board voted to pay A. P. Rounds $258.03 as the final payment on his contract for the building at the New Pumping Station. Letter received from County Commissioners stating that they had allotted us $7,000.00 as their share for the resurfacing of Reading Square. Letter received from May L. Temple and Laura M. Krook, . requesting that this Board take action to prevent trespassing in the private way between #26 and #28 Salem St. Superintendent to place sign at entrance on Salem St. Superintendent to investigate the number of signs overhanging the sidewalks without permits and report.
