' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. - -All Members and the Superintendent were present.- Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted. Letter received from Annie Kelsey of Mt. Vernon St. , asking for extension of time to pay her sewer bill, whit`: was. rendered Oct. 31, 1930, Amount $58.31. Voted to turn same over to the Town Counsel for opinion. Letter received from the Planning Board, inviting this Board to meet with them on June 3rd for the purpose of drafting an amendment to the Zoning Law, regulating the area of building lots. Meeting was held and matter discussed. ' Board voted to purchase from the Reading Chronicle one-hundred (100) copies of Rules And Regulations for the use of tennis courts at Birch Meadow and Memorial Park at cost of $9.65, also one thousand (1000) Permits in duplicate book-form at cost of $9.00. Hearing held at .8 P .M. on the laying out of Smith Avenue as a Public Way. There being no objection, it was so voted and plan was signed. Hearing held at 8:10 P .M. on the re-location of a portion of Longwood Rd. Mr. James C. Gray appeared in favor. There being no objection it was so voted and plan was signed. Petition received from the Ni E. Tel. & Tel. Co. and Municipal Light Dept. for permission to allow joint ownership of one pole ' located on Weston Rd. Petition granted. -2- June 3, 1932. Cont. Petition received from N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co. and Municipal Light Dept. for permission to install one new pole on Bancroft Ave. As objection was raised no action was taken. Matter of class of construction of Reading Square discussed at length. Motion was made and seconded that same be constructed of cement, forty feet wide extending from State Highway north of the square to the center of Haven Street, with the sides to be of bituminous macadam, at a cost of approximately $20,736.43, as per estimate submitted by State Engineer, M. J. Dalton. It was so voted by all members but Mr. Putnam, who voted in opposition. Superintendent instructed to advertise for prices on excavation, broken stone and cement construction, in connection , with the construction of the Square. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
