HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-04-08 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass: , April 8, 1932. ' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works called . to order at 7:30 P.M. All Members and the Superintendent were.present. Minutes of previol.is meeting read and accepted. School Committee inquired if we would be interested .in doing the grading on the playground at the Junior High School. Board voted that it was inadvisable to undertake this work at this time. Request received from Fred F. Smith requesting the acceptance of Smith Avenue at the next town meeting. Mr. Joseph Weston and Mr. Stanley Thorpe interviewed the Board relative to excess water bill on property located at No. 6 Cross St. Board voted to give them a rebate of 5% on last ' water bill inasmuch as meter tested 5% fast. Bids received for fence and tennis nets from the following:- • American Chain Link Fence Co. Security Fence Co. Beacon Equipment Co. P. J. Dinn & Co. W. A. Snow Iron Works, Inc. Copies filed herewith. Board voted to purchase same. from American Chain Link Fence Co. for $944.00 installed. _2- April 8, 1932` Cont. Board voted to pay S. B. Hamilton balance of $252.03due on drilling of thirty=five (35) wells as per Contract of May 28, 1931. Board signed orders of taking for water mains on the .following streets:- Felicia Road, Longfellow Road, Weston Road. • Letter received from Mr. Sussman requesting the use of Washington St. Playground on dates as per copy of letter filed . herewith. Board voted to grant the use of same on days of all ' .scheduled games and as many of other requested days for .practice, as far as it does not interfere with games of other organizations. Board voted to grant Mr. Spellman use of Washington Street Playground for base ball games as per his request of Feb. 18,19321 with the exception of the holidays. Permit will be issued later for the holidays if no further requests are received. Board Voted to grant Rev. Mr. Lancaster use of Washington Street Playground for baseball purposes on Saturday and Monday mornings throughout the Summer. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M. A True. Record•- Attest:- ' Robert E.
