HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-02-26 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass.:, Feb. 26, 1932. ' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public works called to order at 7:30 P.M. All members (except Mr. Putnam) were present. Superintendent also attended meeting. Previous records read and approved. Mr. & Mrs. Gray of Longwood Rd. appeared before the Board. They are not willing to sign releases of their land as shown on plan. Letter received from Weston & Sampson, regarding bill sent by Town to Turbine Equipment Co. for the repairs to the switch- board at Pumping Station. They advise copy of this bill sent to Mr. Rounds for his comments . Hearing held at 8 P.M. on the change of three (3) pole locations on Shackford Rd. Several abutters appeared. Objection was raised by E. L. Thornquist. . To be referred to Municipal Light Board. Mr. C. R. Herrick appeared before the Board relative to the eleven (11) driven wells proposition let out last week to Mr. Hamilton. He advised Board he had enuipment to clean our wells when same was necessary. Letter received from E. B. Currell & Son, offering a bid of $648.00 to repair and refinish surface of Mineral St. Bridge, as per copy of letter attached. Board voted to accept this bid. Feb, 19, 1932 Board of Public .Works Municipal Building Reading, Mass, Attention of Mr. Alexander Birnie, Dear Sir; We are pleased to quote you the sum of $726.00 to recover the Mineral Street Bridge, as follows: Remove the present top planking and recover rL th 2x8 Dense Southern Yellow Pine treated with 8 lbs. No. 1 Creosote 011 per cu. ft., all to be laid in one length with no Joints. Alternate . For the sum of $648,00 we will remove present plank, and relay with 1" Asphalt Plank 6" wide and 36" long, with straight edges laid as per manufacturers specifications with galvanized nails.
