HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-10-23 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading', Mass. , Oct. 23, 1931• The Regular fleeting of the Board of Public Works called to order at 7:30 P.M. All members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of October 16th Meeting read and accepted. Mr. Steele and Mr. Sears interviewed the Board relative to damages sustained by them on the change of sidewalk grade. Chairman stated he would take the matter up, with the Town Council. Mr. Ray Johnson, Chairman of Special Playground Committee, requested Board to make sounding in Birch Meadow, they paying cost of same. Mr. Poole and Mr. Chapin interviewed the Board relative to Oil Burners . Board voted to purchase Williams Oilimatic for ' $395.00. Mr. Totten will abate $21. 50 from his bid of $795.00, making final cott $767. 50. Mr. Dyer requested Board for a position. Informed that money was not sufficient to handle further projects . Superintendent stated he would place him Monday on drainage. Mr. James Smith and Mr. Maybury of Libby Ave. presented a plan from "A" St. to "L." St. The proposed grade line not being included, plan was returned for correction. Application for. granolithic sidewalk received from Lucie J. Mac Donald 25 Berkeley St. Application for granolithic sidewalk received from Frank A. Smith, , 29 Berkeley St. , under Betterment Act. Letter received from Board of Selectmen, relative to unemployment situation. Meeting to be held October 29th at 7:45 P.M. in Room 19. Meeting adjourned at 9: 55 P.M. A True Record:- Frank M.
