Gentlemen:
Enclosed find estimate for installing the heating
apparatus in the new pumping station. We are sending you
these copies in place of the two which were addressed to the
Public Welfare b,, mistake. We trust you will receive both.
We wish to state our motive for figuring steam for
the above building as the most suitable heat for same. The
amount of radiation we have figured may seem strong, but our
engineer has considered the cooler surface of the large filer
installed in building and it will require the amount of radiation
and boiler estimated and oil burner, etc. to properly heat the
building as we guarantee to 700 in zero weather.
Hoping these figures will be of interest to you,
we remain
Very truly yours,
John McCree

Mr. Alexander Birnie' -
Supt. of Water Dapt.
Dear Sir:
We are pleased to quote you on installing an oil burning
hot water heating system for the new water numping station
in Reading, Mass.
We propose to install a #2306-W Burnham boiler with all
the necessary trimmings and properly connected to the chimney
with heavy galvanized smoke pipe and radiators installed and
located where directed by you. The total amount of radiation
to be 500 feet.
We are quoting you on a Burnham boiler because we consider
itone of the best and most efficient boilers for burning oil.
We are enclosing, a cut on this boiler so that you can
readily see the fire travel which is a very efficient factor
in any type of boiler.
We are also recommending two types of oil burners. The '
No-Kol gun type oil burner all equipped with a 550 gallon
outside tank also the Electrol Model "TJ" a cut of which we
are enclosing, all equipped with a 550 gallon outside tank.
This burner is considered one of the best efficient oil
burners and we would highly recommend it.
The No-Kol gun type, electric ignition burns a. 6-1/2 ¢
grade of oil.
We also consider this a good burner and an efficient burner.
If the Electrol "TJ" oil burner is selected with the above
specified boiler and radiation we will install the job complete
for the sum of One Thousand and Ninety-Five ($1095.00) Dollars.
If the No-Kol burner is selected One Thousand and Sixty-Four
($1064.00) Dollars.
If the Town of Reading will do the excaving and the back
filling for the oil tank ($75.00) will be allowed on either of
the above prices.
Respectfully submitted. ,
