HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-09-18 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass . , Sept. 18, 1931. Regular Meeting of The Board of Public Works called to order at 7:30 P .M. All Members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of Sept. 11th Meeting read and accepted. Chairman signed petition of the Municipal Light Dept. to relocate pole on Eaton St. corner of Smith Ave. Letter received from Mrs . Loring F. Wilcox regarding placing a dirt sidewalk on Sunnyside Ave, between Fairview Avenue and Prescott St. Board to investigate. Hearing at 7:45 P.M. for the Establishing of a street grade on Main St. from Haven St. to a point one hundred (100) feet beyond Green St. Mr. Eaton, Mrs. Lewis , Mr. Anderson, Mr. Steele, Mr. White and others appeared. No objections were raised, except by Mr. Steele, who requested the Superintendent to show him in detail what t'ne change would amount to. Bids for Drainage Pipe were opened at 8 P.M. Percy N. Sweetser, Fred F. Smith and Wendell Bancroft Co. filed herewith. Bid was awarded to Fred F. Smith. . Also to purchase approximately 220 ft. from Percy N. Sweetser at $1. 50 per foot dela. Letter received from Accountant L. G. Bent, relative to overdraft of Salem St. Appropriation. Superintendent to acknowledge. Chairman signed petition of Municipal Light Dept. to place pole on north end of Bond St. or -2- Sept. 18, 1931 Cont. Board signed order for Curbing Assessment, Summer Ave. abutting property of Charles A. and Katherine Schmitt. Board voted to build a state road for a tennis court at Birch Meadow; approximate cost to be $200.00. Board adjourned at 10 P.M. A True Record:- Attest:- Frank M. Merrill SECRETARY.
