HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-08-05 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , Aug. 5, 1931. A Special Meeting of the Board was called at 7:30 P .M. at the notification of Mr. Bent, Clerk of the Finance Committee, to explain the articles in theWarrantof the Special Town Fleeting. Messrs. Fairclough, Putnam, Merrill and the Superintendent Birnie were present. Messrs. Hartshorn and Fowls were not notified because of insufficient notice of this meeting. Mr.. Putnam was appointed snokesman on the Birch Meadow Appropriation. He explained in detail the various reasons for this renuest, `made a .report of the year's expenditures and the total cost of this project to date. Members of the Finance Committee expressed the following opinions :- lst: That area should be drained and a plan made showing the drainage possibilities . 2d: That more definite information be presented to them as to future development of this area. 3rd: That present filling should have been spread thinner so as to cover a greater surface. On the other four articles, they were shown the lay-outs of same, namely:- Glen Road, Hancock Street and the proposed plan for the removal of corners at High and Lowell Streets ; and Summer Avenue and Willow Streets . At the conclusion of the joint meeting Board instructed Supt. Birnie to obtain proper data and to show on a plan what the drainage problem was of the Birch Meadow Area. Adjourned at 10:05 P.M.
