HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-08-03 Board of Public Works Minutes Oor- Reading, Mass. , Aug. 3, 1931. The Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Hartshorn, Fairclough, Putnam, Merrill and the Superintendent were present. This meeting occasioned by the Special Town Meeting to be held Aug. 10th. A Hearing was held at 7:30 P.M. by the Board on Glen Road. Mr. Paul Mich appeared in favor. A Hearing was held at 8 P.M. by the Board on the Extension of Hancock St. No one appeared. The Board passed motions and votes , filed herewith, signed in duplicate, reports and plans , on the Relocation or Alteration of Summer Avenue and Willow Streets, Laying out of the Extension of Hancock St. , Laying out of Glen Road, and Relocation or Alteration of High Street and Lowell Street. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 P .M. A True Record:- Attest:- Frank M. Merrill Secretary. 8/3/31 WHEREAS, after hearing and discussion, it was determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the laying out of Two certain public highways for the use of the Town, the first to be known as Glen Road, and running Easterly from Summer Avenue to its intersection with a private way known as Hancock Street Extension, substantially in the location of the private way known as Middlesex Avenue and said public highway to be hereafter known as Glen Road; and the second way to be known as Hancock Street, running in a Southeasterly direction from a public highway known as Mineral Street to its intersection with a public highway known as King Street, and said public highway is to be known as Hancock Street. And therefore upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED: To lay out and establish as public highways the said Glen Road and Hancock Street, and cause such layouts, with the boundaries and measurements thereof to be filed forthwith in the Office of the Town Clerk; and it is further voted that an award of One Hundred (100) Dollars be made to the Boston & Maine Railroad, by reason of the taking to be made for the laying out of Hancock Street. - WHEREAS, after hearing and discussion, it was determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the relocation or alteration of the. Westerly intersection of High Street and Lowell Street, as more particularly shown on plan dated August 1931, and the relocation or alteration of the )unction of Summer Avenue and Willow Street, through land of Roderick M. and John W. Hogan. 8/3/31 ® And therefore upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED: To relocate or alter the Westerly intersection of High Street and Lowell Street, as shown on said plan of August 1931, and further voted to relocate or alter the junction of Summer Avenue and Willow Street through land of Roderick M. and John W. Hogan, as shown on plan dated June 1931, and cause such relocations or alterations, together with the measurements and boundaries thereof to be filed forthwith in the Office of the Town Clerk.
