HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-03-15 ad Hoc - Bicentennial Commission Minutes March 15,1978. The Reading Bicentennial Commission met at the public library `, on this date ,at eight o 'clock, with all members present . The minutes of the meeting of March 8th were accepted with one correction: the cover specifications for Rooftrees called for cream cover with sepia brown lettering, rather than waver of sepia. Bids for the Rooftrees publication were then opened. Four were received, the two high bids were automatically voted down. The other two, within the bi)7get range, were discussed. The lowest bid, 03200, was submitted by Barnstead Printing of Stoneham. Roland Blanchard agreed to check them out (as to service and satisfied customers) and report back next week. The other bid was made by Delmer Cotreau of Reading who had prepared the specifications for the Commission. The Commission has done business with them and know the quality of their work and service. Mrs. Miller reported that Bruce Morang and the Minutemen had reviewed the Bicentennial pictures and identified all participants. They suggest a showing and reception in VFW hall for Founders Day as a jScentennial finale. This fits in with the Commission idea of an exhibit and showing of the record of the Bicentennial events, both movies and still pictures. It was reported also that the Jaycees are interested in the Wproduction of a slide—tape show, chiefly of contemporary Reading, to present Friday, _:ay 19, before the Saturday field day on the 20th. 'rs. 39rclay and 'Yrs. Bishop reported the absence of the letters on the plaque at Woburn and West streets marking the :'uster site. Toe matter will be investigated. The Commission will meet briefly on :March 22nd at 8 pm to hear Dr. Blanchard ' s report and make a decision awarding the printing contract . Adjourned at 2 :50 pm. C . , Eleanor C. Bishop secretary
