HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-06-26 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass. , June 26, 1931. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 7:30 P.M. Messrs . Hartshorn, Fowls, Putnam, Fairclough and the Superintendent were present. Mr. Fairclough acted as Secretary pro tem. A Contract in duplicate was received from State Department of Public Works for extension of work of reconstruction Salem Street, which was signed in duplicate and returned to said Department, one copy of which will be returned to this Board later. A Petition in usual form for a granolithic sidewalk, in front of No. 17 Mineral St. , property of Harvey A. Bancroft et al. received, which will be acknowledged and placed on file. A letter was received from the Seesaw Swing Co. , Saugus, quoting prices of $115.00 for a three swing outfit complete delivered, and $175.00for a six swing outfit, including pipe stands , fittings, roller bearings , etc. This letter is to be placed on file and purchased later if funds are available. A form of permit for use of sidewalk and an Indemnity Agreement was received from the Town Counsel to be used when a petition is received. A Hearing was held at 8 P .M. on a petition for a sewer on Dudldy and High Streets and the following appeared:- Mr. Chapin, Mr. John Green, Mr. Anthony by letter, Bertha P. Ainsworth by letter, and Mr. Hunt unfavorable; Mr. Harry Johnson, Mr, Pearl Burgess, Dr. Connelly and Mr. Merritt, favorable. -2- June 26, 1931. Cont. LMr. Kelch appeared requesting a permit to put a 4" drain from the cellar of Herbert S. Richardson, 11 Fairview Ave. , into the catch basin in front of his property. A release from damage should be signed by owner. Board to request Mr. Donegan, Tree Warden, to remove three trees from the easterly side of High Street, from Woodward Ave. to Vine St. A Hearing to be held July 10, 1931, at 8 P.M. on the extension of Hancock St. , the abuttors having been notified by letter. A complaint has been received regarding water on Weston Road from Mr. Weston. Superintendent to estimate cost and consult with Mr. Weston. - A complaint has been received regarding discharging water from Grove St. onto the property of Walter G. Sargent, 151 Grove St. opposite Spruce Road. Mr. Hogan willing to give land, Mrs. Wiberg willing to sell land for rounding corners at Summer Ave. , Willow and West Streets. Voted to take Mr. Hogan's land, 650 Sq. Ft. , to round corner of Summer Avenue and Willow St with an award of $1.00. Adjourned at 9:40 P.M. A True Redord:- Attest:- William T. This includes pipe-stands, fittings, roller- bearings, etc. We appreciate the fine reception accorded our representative, as well as the interest that you took in our SEESAW SWING, and hope for an order from you sometime in the future.
