All members and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of June 12th Meeting read and accepted. Board signed order for Sidewalk Assessment, Berkeley and Woburn Streets. Board voted to make Order of Taking, Property of Kiernan and Ball, covering Parcel #23 and Parcel #6; and Property of the Heirs of the late Geo. W. Hunt, covering parcel No. 7. Memo of Vote filed herewith. Board voted to make Order of Taking, Property of Frank Parker, covering Parcel No. 11; and Property of Geo. H. Prescott, covering parcel No. 1. Memo of Vote filed herewith. These are properties all in loo Acre Meadow. Bids were received for Crushed Stone for Salem St. Job at 7:45 P.M. , from Rowe Contracting Co. , Malden: General Crushed Stone Co. , Winchester; Malden Crushed Stone Co. , Saugus; and Saugus Sand and Stone Corp. , Saugus. Copy of Bids filed herewith. Board voted to purchase stone from Malden Crushed Stone for $1.35 per ton for L#1 stone and $1.35 per ton for #4 stone. Petition filed for granite curbing abutting properties of G. S. Woodman and G. L. Davis #91-93 Bancroft Ave. Petition filed for granolithic sidewalk abutting property of Mabel A. Hurd, #30 Berkeley St. -2- June 19, 1931. Cont. ' Mr. Moore requested a permit for use of sidewalk abutting Gordon property, Main St. , for the purpose of making alterations to building adjoining. Reading, Massachusetts THAT we, the undersigned, being a majority of the Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading, in the County of Middlesex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, such Board being by virtue of the provisions of Chapter 118 of the Acts of 1921, the successor to the Water Commissioners, acting herein under the authority given by Chapter 405 of the Acts of 1889, Chapter 79 of the General Laws and all acts and amendments thereof, and in addition thereto, and by a two-thirds vote of the said Town, passed at a meeting duly warned and held March 16, 1931, and every other power and authority hereto enabling, having complied with all the preliminary renuirements prescribed by law, and said Town having made an appropriation therefor, does hereby adopt the following order of taking: 0 R D E R E D: That there be, and hereby is, taken for and in behalf of said Town in fee, the parcels of land here- inafter described, with the names of the alleged owners of each parcel preceding the description thereof. Land of Frank Parker located in 'rreat Island" , so-called in said Reading and shown as Parcel No. Eleven (11) on "Plan of Lands Situated In Hundred Acre Meadow, Great Island, Dividence Swamp and Meadow, Reading, Mass. , Surveyed for the Town of Reading, Town Forest and Water Supply Development, dated �1. November 1930, Davis & Abbott, Civil Engineers" , a copy of which plan is recorded in the Middlesex South District Registry of ' Deeds in Book 5565, Page 242, and bounded and described as follows: Beginning at the Southwesterly corner thereof at an old stake and stones at land formerly of Isaac M. Clark and land now of Fannie C. Nichols ; thence running North 80 - 44' - 20" East by land of said Nichols, Three hundred twenty-five and 1/100 (325.01) feet to an iron pipe at the end of the wall at land formerly of Kiernan and Ball, now of the Town of Reading; thence turning and running South 400 - 48' - 20" East by land now or formerly of Stockwell and Wales, Five hundred and 36/100 ( 500.36) feet to iron pipe and stones at land formerly of Isaac M. Clark; and thence turning and running North 810 - 18' - 50" West by land formerly of said Clark, Three hundred eighty and 74/100 (380.74) feet to the point of beginning. Said parcel is estimated to contain One and 42/100 (1.42) acres, of land, more or less. We award damages in consequence of said taking to Frank. Parker in the sum of One (1) Dollar. Land of George H. Prescott located in "Hundred Acre Meadow" , in said Reading, and shown as Parcel No. One (1) on said plan hereinbefore mentioned, recorded in the Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds in Book 5565, Page 242. Said parcel is bouhded and described as follows : Beginning at the Southeasterly corner thereof at land formerl;, of Charles Boutwell and land of Silas Henry Carroll, and land of Bjarne and Ragnhild Iverson; thence running South 690 - 42, - 30" East by land of said Bjarne and Ragnhlld Iverson, One hundred seventy-s@ven and 98/100 (177.98) feet to a corner marking the boundary line between the Town of Wilmington and the Town of Reading; thence turning and running North 20 - 45, - 30" East, the same marking the division line between said Towns, Ten hundred eighty-one, and 40/100 (1081.40) feet, more or less , to a point at a ditch and land formerly of said Charles Boutwell; thence turning and running South 60 - 26, - 10" East by land of said Boutwell, Ten hundred twenty-four and 90/100 (1024.90) feet to the point of beginning. Said parcel is estimated to contain Two and 408/1000 (2.408) acres of land, more or less. We award damages in consequence of said taking to George H. Prescott and E. M. Buck in the sum of One (1) Dollar. The interest in said land hereby taken, with regard to each parcel is the entire and absolute title in fee simple. Any and all trees upon each of said parcels are specifically included in the taking. The said premises are taken for the purpose of the extension of the system for supplying the inhabitants of said Town with water. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we Martin B. Hartshorn, Harold W. Ball located in "Hundred Acre Meadow" , so-called, in said Reading, shown as Parcel No. Six (6) , estimated to contain Five and 79/100 (5.79) Lacres of land, more or less, and shown on plan hereinbefore referred to, recorded in said Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds in Book 5565, Page 242, and bounded and described as follows : Beginning at the Southwesterly corner of said premises at land formerly of Emory Bancroft and Silas Henry Carroll; thence running North 70 - 30' West by land formerly of said Emory Bancroft, Twelve hundred and twenty (1220) feet, more or less , to the Ipswich River; thence turning and running Easterly and Southeasterly by said River, Two hundred and fifty-five (255) feet, more or less, to land formerly of George W. Hunt; thence turning and running South 80 -00' East, Eleven hundred and ten (1110) feet, more or less, to land of said Silas Henry Carroll; thence turning and running by Two (2) courses, both by land of said Carroll, South 700 - 39' West, Seventy-seven and 54/100 (77. 54) feet to an old stake by stump, and South 840 - 56' West, One hundred thirty-six and 40/100 (136.40) feet to the point of beginning. Ball; thence North 80 -oo' West by said land now or formerly of Kiernan and Ball, Eleven hundred and ten (1110) feet, more or less, to the Ipswich River; thence turning and running Easterly and Southeasterly by said River, One hundred and sixty (160) feet to land now of Fannie C. Nichols; thence turn- ing and running Southeasterly by a ditch and land of said Fannie C. Nichols, Seven hundred and thirty-seven (737) feet, more or less, to old stones at a corner at other land now or formerly of said Kiernan and Ball, being the parcel first described herein; thence running South 270 42' - 40" West by said ditch and land of said Kiernan and Ball, Three hundred thirteen and 73/100 (313.73) feet to an iron pipe at the end of the ditch; thence running South 100 - 40' - 10" West, Seventy-three and 8/100 (73.08) feet to an iron pipe and old stones; thence South 540 - 301 West, Thirty-seven and 10/100 (37.10) feet to an old stake at land of said Silas Henry Carroll, both of the last mentioned courses are by land of said Kiernan and Ball; and thence South 700 - 39' West by land of said Carroll, Ninety-five and 66/100 (95.66) feet to the point of beginning. We award damages in consequence of said taking to the heirs of George W. Hunt in the sum of One (1) Dollar.
