Reading, Mass. , May 15, 1931.
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called
to order at 7:30 P .M.
All members and the Superintendent were present.
Minutes of Last meeting read and accepted.
Six (6) Bids for Driven Wells opened at 7:30 P .M. , were
taken under advisement. Copy of same are filed herewith.
Letter from L. F. Quimby requesting use of Ball Park for
June 13 , for Boy Scout Jamboree was granted.
Letter from Kimball Loring regarding installation of
sidewalk, between Perkins Ave. and Copeland Ave. , taken under
consideration.
Applications for granite curbing from L. C. Rich, 22 Berkeley
St. ; and granolithic sidewalks from C. L. Thomas, 128 Bancroft
i
Ave. , and A. D. Gordon, Main St. (Store) under Betterment Act,
were accepted.
Hearing for sewer extension on Gardner Rd. at 8 P .M. Six
abutters appeared in favor. Voted to install.
Mr. Sampson and Mr. Davis interviewed the Board relative,
to Bond on construction of Pumping Station. Mr. Sampson and
Chairman to take up the subject with Mr. Wardell. Opinion of
Town Counsel filed herewith.
Application for a fire hydrant on Gardner Road received.
Chief Ordway recommends Wilson Street corner of Gardner Road.
Owing to 1 1/4" water pipe installed in Gardner Rd. matter laid
on table until larger pipe can be laid.
Town Accountant interviewed Board at length regarding the
purchasing of Gas Rolleri loader, cement mixer, etc. That he
should have a copy of any contract that Board awards. Was

informed that the Board desired to co-operate in every way with
his department.
Voted to install new steps, etc. , at pumping station
dwelling.
Mr. Dominick Zanni made a request to purchase Fordson
Tractor.
He was informed that the Board would sell same to him at
"Trade In" figure if we purchased a new one this year.
Voted to install a dirt sidewalk, approximately 250 feet
abutting property located Locust Street, corner of Auburn.
Meeting adjourned at 10:25 P.M.
