HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-04-17 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- Reading, Mass. , April 17, 1931, The Regular .Meeting of the Board of Public Works was ' called to order at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Hartshorn, Putnam, Foyle, Merrill and the Superintendent were present. Minutes of April 10th and 15th meetings read and accepted. Letter received from Frank M. Stevens , regarding height of sidewalk grade, abutting his property, Superintendent to investigate and report. Mr. Jonathan T. Howard, of Van Norden Rd, was informed the Board would fill any holes caused by the water service in- stallation; that building road under the Betterment Act would cost approximately $1.00 per rupning foot, and the subject of abutters filling in road with gravel and sending bill to Town ' for payment, would be referred to .Town Counsel. Superintendent to report same to Mr. Howard by letter. Board signed order for Sidewalk Assessments on Wends Street. Petition for granolithic sidewalks received from Priscilla T. Davis, #6 Vine St. , and all the abutters on East side of School Street, with the exceptions of Mr. Pratt and the School property. Board to install if the funds are available. Prices on Steel Bleachers received from J. L. Hammett Co. , and Wood and Steel from Mr. Leveroni of Ryan and Baker Co. Board purchased two sets of 513 seats, 10 tiers high, approximately 72' long and 16 1/2' wide at $629. 50 per set, delivered in Reading. , -2- April 17, 1931 Cont. Purchased 2 D3 Unit Manufactured by Domestic Engine and Pump Co. at $210.00 less 5%, delivered in Reading, of Fred Smith. Superintendent has obtained blue prints from Captain Wood, of Metropolitan Police on forms for cement benches. Forms to be made and benches set up in various parks at once. Adjourned at 9 P.M.
