Reading, Mass . , April 10, 1931.
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was
called to order at 7:30 P.M.
All Members and the Superintendent were present.
Minutes of April 3rd meeting read and accepted.
Bids for this year's supply of cement received from
Fred F. Smith at 52 1/20 per bag, covering Lehigh, Alpha, Long
Star Brandsv and from Wendell Bancroft at 53¢ per bag for
Universal Atlas brand. Board accepted Smith's bid, reserving
right to purchase Atlas brand to comp''-ete fobs where Atlas
brand was already in use. Copy of bids attached hereto.
Bids for cement-mixer received from Fred F. Smith, Waldo
Bros. Co. , and Hedge & Mattheis Company, as per copies filed
herewith. Superintendent instructed to investigate various
machines and report at next meeting.
Mrs . J. 0: Dailey of Bay State Rd. interviewed Board
relative to drainage of Pratt St. Chairman stated that as
Pratt St. was not accepted, we had no jurisdiction, but would
block any water flowing from Bay State Rd. onto Pratt St.
Superintendent instructed to remedy this condition if. necessary.
Mr. Surrette inquired as to procedure of Board of Survey
relative to the laying out of Park St.
Board of Survey hearing on Smith Avenue at 8 P .M. No
one appeared.
Board of Survey hearing on n LibbyAve. at 8 P.M. Four
abutters appeared in favor. Mr. Maybury and several other
Labutters interested in the further development of Libby Avenue
interviewed the Board.

Raymond J. Lally of 11 Gardner Rd. requested connection
to Sewer.
Board voted to install.
Copies of bids for gas roller received from Acme Road
Machinery Co. , and The Buffalo-Springfield Roller Company filed
herewith. Board voted to purchase of Buffalo-Springfield Roller -
Company.
Chairman signed petition, covering seven pole locations
on Pennsylvania Ave. between Summer Ave. and Virginia Rd.
Board voted to install at Town's expense granolithic
sidewalk abbutting American Legion property.
Superintendent instructed to have representative of
Circle "A" Bleacher Co. at next regular meeting.
Board notified by Secretary of Planning Board of a
Special Meeting April 15th relative to Aerial Survey.
Meeting Adjourned at 9:35 P.M.

we are pleased to quote you on a Master 7 concrete mixer
with a 8 h. p. hopper cooled LeRoy engine, with side loader
and water tank mounted on steel disc rubber tired whaels
with roller bearings for $890.00 Less 2% for cash, delivered.
We also can quote you on a Smith 7 S 8 h.p. Novo engine
for $925.00 Less 2% for cash, delivered. Of if you prefer
you may have a LeRoy engine 8 h.p . for the same price.
This is practically the same kind of aleader as the
L'
Master with all the equipment the same but a heavier machine.

These prices as quoted are F.O.B. Reading, and are subject to
a 5% discount for cash payment on next Town Pay Day following
date of .delivery.
As we keep a large stock of both types of machines on our
Boston Warehouse floor at all times we can make immediate shipment.
We wish to call your attention to the fact that we also carry
complete stocks of repair parts for both the mixers and engines
in Boston, and our Service Depattment is ready for all calls. This
is an important fact to keep in mind as delays awaiting service
and repair parts are often costly.
We are enclosing the Jaeger Bulletin #N-30 and calling your
attention particularly to pages 2 to 12 inclusive, which illustrate
and describe in detail both the Speed King and Speed Queen units .
You will note that the King is a two wheel trailer type and
discharge machine, whereas the Queen is a four wheel side discharge
mounting. Incidentally, the Town of Reading rented a Speed Queen
unit from us last year through the Dyal Sales & Machinery Co.

Gentlemen:
In accordance with your advertisement we propose to furnish
the Town of Reading, Mass . the following:
1 - Acme 30,000 lb. 3-wheel, Two Speed Motor Roller with
Double Cylinder Air Pressure Scarifier.
Roller to be .equipped with a Waukesha Four Cylinder
Motor with Ricardo head to develop at least 55 H.P.
at a normal speed of 1000 R.P.M.
Frame is of heavy 15" Channel Steel firmly fastened
together with machine finished bolts and rivets,
cross braced with channels of same weikht, Cast steel
support for rear axle and bull pinion shaft full length.
All drive shafts and both front and rear axles mounted
on roller Bearings.
Equipped with Electric Self Starter and Generator.
Sectional Type Radiator
All Gears of cut steel, including Bull Gear and Pinion.
Wheel spikes, and plugs furnished for rear rolls, 7
Scarifier Teeth for Scarifier, Top and Curtains in-
cluded with above roller.
