Reading, Mass. , March 27, 1931.
' The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was called
to order at 7:30 P.M.
All Members and the Superintendent were present.
Minutes of previous meeting read and accepted.
Representative Duncan made a report to the Board relative -
to North Main Street sidewalk and State and County appropriation
for Salem Street. Advised Board to petition the County Board
of Public Works relative to Main Street job through the Square.
Captain Eames of the Reading Fire Department was granted
permission to erect pedestals on Main Street, near Plouff Bleck,
Woburn Street near Congregational Church, South-east corner of
Main and Haven Streets and near Shell Gas . Stand on Main Street.
Order of takings were signed covering Wells Road , Pinevale
Avenue and Shackford Road.
Mrs. Steele requested the Board to do what they could to
remedy conditions at County Road. Matter was referred to Town
Counsel, who reported it was not a Town Road and Mrs. Steele
is to be so advised.
Board purchased a Chevrolet Truck for Sewer Department
from Bailey Chevrolet Company for $712.00 Net. Bids received
covering same filed herewith.

Chairman stated a Special Meeting of the Board of Public
L Works would be necessary at 8 P.M. Tuesday night for the
purpose of receiving water ripe bids.
Board voted to advertise for bids for Buffalo Gas Roller
and to write the local Hardware Dealers for bids for a Gas
Loader to be opened April 3rd Meeting.
Petitions for granolithic sidewalks were received from
Mrs . Emily Hunt of #30 Hill Crest Road and six consecutive
abutters on Berkeley Street near Woburn Street and Board voted
to install.
Board voted that Town Treasurer be notified by letter
to issue Bonds for .Water Department project.
LOn advice of Town Counsel Board voted to relocate
westerly line of Main Street between Haven and Woburn Streets .
Board requested Town Counsel to proceed with the necessary
orders for takings on the petitions received to date for
granolithic sidewalks. -
Superintendent instructed to interview Andrew Christensen
relative to easement for drainage project through his property
on Sunnyside Ave.
Chairman to see Officers of Golf Club regarding thirty
(30) foot right of way through their property toward new
pumping station.
Meeting adjourned at 9:16 P.M.
