Reeding, Mass . , March 6, 1931.
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held ,
at 7:30 P .M.
Messrs . Hartshorn, Putnam, Fairclough, Merrill and Fowle
present, also the Superintendent.
Previous records reed and approved .
The Chairman advised Board that owing to the Petition for
recount, it should not reorganize until after the reccunt is
finished.
The Superintendent reported that a drain is necessary on
Spring Street.
Mr. Putnam suggested that drains be put in on Summer Ave.
from Howard Street toward Main Street. ,
Mr. Fairclough reported that Mr. Francis B. Hunt complained
that the position of the new drain through the cut-off in Forest
St. will not properly drain the land and he wishes it might be
relocated to its former location.
Mr. Hunt also questions the easement of taking for the
laying out of Forest St.
An application for a gre.nolitr.ic sidewalk 4' wide on the
east side of `.lends St. from Woburn St. to the end of S. W.
Currier's property received; to be laid under the Betterment Act.
The Bids oncoalwere consi-dered . Board voted to split
bids of W. Bancroft & Co. & P. N. Sweetser, if they were
agr-eable. Superintendent to write to them. ,

The bids on gasoline were considered. Board voted
unanimously to buy Tidol Gas at 40 per gallon less than
posted price.
The bids on nil were considered and it was voted unanimously
to buy (Quaker State Oil from S. R. Stembridge Co. at 840 per
gallon, etc.
The bids on tires were considered and it was voted unanimously
to buy tires as necessary at existing prices .

Vote to be passed by the Board of Public Works
Members present: Mr. Hartshorn, Chairman, Mr. Merrill and Mr. '
Fairclough, Secretary.
Whereas after discussion it was determined and adjudged
by this board that public convenience requires the reconstruction
of the existing sidewalks on the southerly side of Dudley Street,
extending from School StreettoHigh Street, it was , upon motion
made and seconded . Voted to adopt the following order:
O R D E R E D : That this Board reb,ild the sidewalk in
the said location of granolithic construction, said materials
being of a more permanent character than that with which said
sidewalk was originally constructed ; and it is further ordered
that there shall be assessed on the abutting estates mentioned
below the respective amounts set opposite each parcel, which ,
assessments do not eyceed one-half the cost thereof.
