HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-11-14 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- November 14, 1930. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Hartshorn, Putnam, Merrill, Fairclough and the Superintendent were present. Previous records read and approved. Voted to authorise the Town Clerk to change the signature of Clerk to that of Chairman on a petition for pole location at the request of Mr. Sias. The Superintendent estimated 21¢ per foot on Shackford Road, 722 feet without gravel. Total cost about $250.00 @ 300 per foot, a hearing to be held, notice by letter to abuttors. Henzie St. to be asked for acceptance before next Town Meeting. Report on Bleachers:- J. L. Hammett Co. , New England Distributor for Wayne Iron Works. Kendall Square, Cambirdge, Mass. It Voted to make a wading pond at Memorial Park. Clerk signed a permit for removal of 2 poles on Franklin Street westerly from Main Street about 131.7 as per plan attached thereto. -3- Nov. 14, 1930 Cont. Mr. Petkewich of the Reading Custon Laundry appeared relative to drainage waste water. Board was no jurisdiction. Voted to fix private walks at new sidewalk on Dudley St. Mr. Davis advised the Boar,t relative to relocating Bancroft Avenue in front of his and Mr. Putnam's and Mr. Richard 's property. Request for gravel sidewalk on Deering Street by Louise Chadbourne: to be put in. Request for a 6-inch pipe at westerly end of Prescott St. Voted to plow Ball Park in sections so as to smooth ground. Voted to see Mr. Ellenwood regarding northerly corner of Middlesex Ave. & Lowell Street relocation. Voted to have Mr. Donegan cut down trees on common that are dead. Voted to purchase 1 or 2 snow plows from State Highway Department at about $5.00 each. It was voted to send a notice of the intention of the Board of Public Works to lay out Longview Road, Weston Road, Hanscom Avenue, Palmer Hill Avenue, Tower Road and Henzie Street, to abutters on these streets, stating that a hearinP, would be held for purpose of discussion and opinions at 8 P .M.
