HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-10-17 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- October 17, 1930 Messrs. Hartshorn, Putnam, Merrill and Fairclough and Supt. present. Mr. Whitney appeared relative to piping ditch on Summer Ave. and Oak Street to be started next week. Water Service petitioned for on Lowell Street near Sanborn's Gravel pit. Board will put water in in about three weeks if 4% Guarantee is signed. Mrs. M. Merrill, 115 Salem Street, requests sidewalk in front of her property to be attended to as soon as possible. The Secretary signed a petition from the N. E. Telephone and Telegraph Co. to remove 28 poles in the following streets:- North Main St. northerly from Franklin Street to Reading North Town Line, granting the request. Also a petition from the N. E. Telephone and Telegraph Co. and the Municipal Light Board to erect one (1) joint pole on Prospect Street southeasterly from Mineral Street approximately 86 feet not to exceed 12 pairs of wires and 3 cables. Mr. Marston from Metcalf and Eddy appeared relative to extimate of cost of preparation of plans for completion of Water Works. Voted to send notice to owners on south side of Dudley Street for a hearing at 7:45 P.M. next Friday night Oct. 24, 1930. Voted to put in a granolithic sidewalk at 9 Oak Street for Carl B. Pitman under Betterment Act. Also one in front of properties of Helen G. Davis , 67 Highland St. , and Harold W. Putnam, 117 Bancroft Ave. , also under Betterment Act. ' Board signed and approved plan for rounding corner at South- West corner of Middlesex Ave. and Linden St. Board voted to construct sidewalk on west side of Summer Ave. to use some binder. _p.
