HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-08-15 Board of Public Works Minutes August 15, 1930 The regular meeting of the B.P.W. was held this day at 7:30 P .M. All four members and the Supt. were present. The Supt. reported that after 1 week of pumping, the State Board of Health was very well pleased with the results. Bids for plowing at Memorial Park were as follows: Fred Nelson $270.00 _ P .N. Sweetser $180.00 @ $30.00 per acre Geo. Zanni $110.00 The Board voted unanimously to award the contract to. Geo. Zannl. The Supt. presented a list of 166 street names of signs. He is to obtaifl prices. The chevrolet truck of the Slater Dept. purchased in 1926 is in vary poor condition. It was decided to wait one or two weeks before further action. Voted to allow the Supt. to attend the New England Water Works Convention Sept. 22 to 29. The Board signed order for construction, under the Betterment Act, of granolithic sidewalk on west side of Square and north side of Haven St. from Woburn St. to Sanborn St. Supt. to deliver notices Sat. Aug. 16, 1930. Mr. Davis appeared with papers for relocation of westerly side of Square. Birch Meadow drainage was discussed and it was voted to construct 2 tennis courts to cost about $600.00. Mr. Percy Crocker was nominated by Mr. Hartshorn Mr. Robert Fowle " " " Mr. Merrill Mr. Everett Brewer " " " Mr. Putnam and seconded by Mr. Fairclough. It was decided to cast ballots for nominees and Mr. Crocker , received 1 vote, Mr. Fowle 1 vote, and Mr. Brewer 2 votes. On question of whether Mr. Brewer was elected or not, the Town Counsel ruled that he was not elected 3 votes being necessary for election: Aug. 15, 1930 cont Board adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
