HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-06-06 Board of Public Works Minutes -1- June 6, 1930 Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works held this day , at 7:30 P.M. All four members and Superintendent present. Mr. Trevor and Mr. Bryant appeared relative to use of Memorial Park and Common by the Legion July 4th and requested a permit for a stand, a bonfire, also use of a truck: all of which were granted. Mr. Torkington appeared and objected to the Board 's decision. Tower Road plan approved after hearing. . - Mr. Ide, for Board of Health, appeared with regard to a dumping place for sewage. Some changes are necessary to be made in catch basin on Ash St. Supt. to notify Zanni when ready. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. White appeared requesting improvement of Forest Street. . Hearing for pole location on Village St. granted and permit ' signed by the Secretary. Supt. asked Board's permission for Dent. to construct Salem St. new surface $9,000. alloted. Advised to seek State 's permission. Contract to construct concrete foundation for standpipe, etc. , awarded to John Macdonald Construction Co. , 100 Arlington St. , Boston, for $457?.00. it being the lowest bidder and recommended by Metcalf and Eddy, Engineers. Supt to see Mr. Marston and ask him to request Pittsburg Des-Moines Steel Co. to agree to former bid for standpipe construction of $18,900.00 instead of $19,400.00. Mr. Davis spoke of Kingman and Richardson's commission of $150.00 for purchase of standpipe location, and alternative suggested by them. Supt. to report on cost of curb andstone dust suggested. ' Mr. Davis also reported on Birch Meadow Titles. J -2- June 6, 1930 Cont. ' Mr. Putnam suggested that Supt. list streets needing new signs.
