May 15, 1930.
The meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Thursday,
May 15, at 7130 P.M.
All four members and the Superintendent were present.
The report of the previous meeting was read and approved.
It was voted to lengthen the culvert on Oak Street, so that
the street might be widened at that spot to full width. A bid
of $175.00 was received and accepted to move the Band Stand from
the Common to Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hopkins, living opposite Leach Park, offers a tree to
the Town and is accepted by the Board.
A letter from Metcalf and eddy recommends that the pumping
test on the new wells , be started now. It was voted to start
June 1. The water in the Galleries is reported to be 16 inches
' lower than normal now.
The water bill for #66 Green St. , Mr. Barrett, Tenant, is to
be sent to the owner, Mrs . Mabie.
A Gravel Sidewalk is to be built in front of J. Warren Killam's
property on Summer Ave. opposite Oak St. as soon as the maintenance
work permits.
Advertisements are to be published for the laying out of
Tower Road from Hanscom Ave. to Winthrop Ave. . Hearing to be held
June 6, 1930.
The filling is being put in at Birch Meadow.
Mr. Torkington, off Martin Rd. , appeared relative to the 4%
Charge on his water bill. The Superintendent is to figure the
•, amount to be refunded.
Mr. Davis, Town Counsel., met with the Board and reported
that after May 21st, 1930, the land for the Stand Pipe can be
purchased.

The title work on Birch Meadow is progressing. '
Mr. Davis is to write to Mr. Gordon with regard to his strip
of land at the back edge of the sidewalk on the square.
Mr. E. W. Brewer was nominated by Mr. Fairclough to fill vacancy
on Board and the nomination seconded by Mr. Putnam.
Mr. Elmer P. Crooker, Sr. , was nominated by Mr. Hartshorn and
was not seconded.
Mr. William A. Haley was nominated by Mr. Hartshorn and was
not seconded.
Mr. Percy N. Sweetser was nominated by Mr. Merrill and was not
seconded.
Mr. E. W. Brewer's name was voted favorably on by Mr. Putnam
and Mr. Fairclough.
The Board adjourned at 9 P.M.

Dear Mr. Fairclough:
Referring to our recent telephone conversation,
please correct our report upon additional water supply,
page 35, third line under Well No. 20, by changing the
figure 45 to ,g; and on page 36, fourth line from the
top, by changing the figure §0 to M. The figures as
given in the report referred to the water obtained with
the hand pump, whereas the corrected figures and those
referred to in Table 2, page 15, are for the power pump
test.
Vie appreciate very much your courtesy in calling
these errors to our attention.
