HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-04-16 Board of Public Works Minutes April 16, 1930 A special meeting of the Board was held this day at 7:30 P.M. - The resignation of Mr. Samuel H. Davis from Membership on this Board was read by the Chairman. On a motion duly made and seconded it was voted to accept said resignation. The Board regrets very much to lose the valued assistance and counsel of Mr. Davis as former Chairman and member and wishes him all possible success as Town Counsel, to which position he has just been appointed. The Secretary signed a permit for the N.E.T. & T. Co. and the Mun. Lt. Dept. to remove and erect 1 new pole on Prospect St. from Woburn St. northwesterly about 3P8 feet. ' Mr. Hartshorn, Mr. Putnam, Mr. Merrill, Mr. Fairclough and the Superintendent were present. A True Record: Attest: William T. I hereby resign as member of the Board of Public Works, such resignation to take effect at once. C 0 P Y KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS That, the Laconia National Bank. executors under the will of ' C. Harry Thwing, the party of the first part, in consideration of One Dollar and other considerations , the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged paid by Kingman and Richardson of Reading, Mass. , the party of the second part, agree to sell and convey to the said party of the second part, or his assigns, the following described property subject to the considerations hereinafter mentioned. 182,800 sq. ft. of land, Bear Hill, Reading, Mass . , being Lots 178-213 on Plan 50A on file at Town Office. The consideration to be paid by party of the second part or his assigns shall be Three Thousand and no/100 Dollars , (3000. ) of which $50. is to be mailed to the party of the first part on Monday, March 10th, 1930 if the party of the first part has notified the party of ' the second part that a prior option made with the firm of Walter Channing of Boston, Mass. , has expired and that the option described herewith is in effect. This option may be accepted by the said party of the second part or his assigns, within thirty (30) days from the date of this instrument, by said party of the second part or his assigns to said party of the first part written notice of such acceptance and said conveyance shall be made when permission is given by the Middlesex County Court to sell, said conveyance shall be made within five ( 5) days after said permission is given, by a good and sufficient deed, conveying a clear title free from all incumbrances. Taxes for the year 1930 to be paid by the buyer. The party of the first part to notify the party of the second part of ' the time and place, in Reading, Mass. , where said conveyance shall be made and executed. The party of the first part agrees to make immediate application for permission to sell if the option is exercised. Time is of the essence of this option, the party of the first part agrees neither to sell nor incumber said real estate -2- during said term, of this option except as provided in this instrument. Town of Reading Office of the Board of Public Works Relocation or Alteration of High Street and Lowell Street The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require that the public highways be laid out, relocated or altered, as and in the location hereinafter described, having ' complied with all renuirements of law relating to notice to owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard all persons present, who desired to be heard, have laid out, relocated or altered as public highways for the use of the Town, ' the Westerly intersection of High Street and Lowell Street. The boundaries and measurements of said public highways as to laid out, relocated or altered are as follows: Beginning at a point on the Westerly side line of said High Street at a stone bound marking the Southerly end of a curve of 257.71 feet radius as shown on a plan of said High Street dated November 1928, duly approved and recorded by the Town Clerk under date of March 11, 1929, and at land of Martin B. Hartshorn; From thence the line runs S. 240 - 30' E. , by the present Westerly side line of said High Street as shown on said plan, a distance of 38.61 feet to a new point of curve: Thence Northwesterly by a curve of 470.00 feet radius through land of the said Hartshorn and land of John F. McKenna, a length of 168.37 feet to a new point of tangent on the Westerly side line of said Lowell Street;
