HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-01-24 Board of Public Works Minutes 1 Reading, Mass. .Jan. 24, 1930 Ameeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at 7:30 P .M. Present were: Samuel H. Davis Miles C. Higgins Martin B. Hartshorn Wm. T. Fairclough Harold W. Putnam and the Superintendent A letter was received from Metcalf and Eddy giving the progress of their water investigation and information concerning the new standpipe. A letter was received from Mr. Millitt asking that the sidewalk on Linden St. be sanded after storms and the Supt. was instructed to do so. A communication was received from the Planning Board asking the Board to make a taking to provide for widening the Square in order to allow the people of the Town to vote on the subject. Permission was granted the N.E.T.&.T. Cc and Municipal Light Dept. to locate one pole on Bancroft Ave. near Locust St. A report was received from Fred Frotten giving opinion as to conditions at Mr. Gray' s house on Kingston St. and the cause of same. Bids were received for ftrnishing coal at the pumping station for one year and the contract was awarded to W. Bancroft & Co. at 4;37.20 per ton in line at station. A True Record: Harold W.
