HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-09-27 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. ' September 27, 1929 A meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at 7:30 P.M. Present were: Samuel H. Davis Miles C. Higgins Martin B. Hartshorn William T. Fairclough Harold W. Putnam and the Superintendent. Mr. Lang and Mr. Eames called on the Board to register a complaint about drainage conditions at the corner of Green and Elliot Streets. The matter is to be looked over on the ground by members of the Board. ' A petition was received from the Municipal Light Dept, for permission to open Middlesex Avenue, opposite Kingston Street to install a service. Permission granted. Petitions were received from the Malden & Melrose Cas Company for permission to open Hunt and Grand Streets for the purpose of ins- talling 6" Mains. Permission was granted. Drainage conditions on Kingston Street were discussed and it was voted to go ahead with the construction of a new drain as soon as easements can be obtained. Other drainage projects were considered and it was voted to construct a drain on Woodward Avenue and Vale Road when easements are obtained also to dig ditches between culverts on Main, Cross and Ash Streets. The necessity for a billing machine was considered and matter ' is to be investigated further and considered later. The question of equipment was discussed but no action taken. _p_ The Superintendent reported that repairs to the sidsralk on School Street would remedy the cause of complaint of Winfield Reed and ' he would do the work.
