HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-05-28 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading Mass. May 28, 1929 A meeting of the Board of Public Works- was held this day at 7:30 P.M. Present were: Samuel H. Davis Miles C. Higgins Martin B. Hartshorn Wm. T. Fairclough Harold W. Putnam A bill was received from the Merrimac Chemical Co, for damage to their truck received in an accide-it on Salem St. iand a report from the Supt, regarding . same. The matter was referred to the Town Counsel. A letter was received from Kingman and Richardson asking that articles be inserted in the warrant for the Town meeting of June 19th to accept streets in Wsstwood Park. Voted to view these streets on June 8th and consider the matter later. The Poard then held a conference with the Planning Board and considered various subjects of mutual interest one being the proposed alteration of the Town Common�P✓hich some opposition developed. A petition of the N.E.T. & T. Co, for four pole locations on Bancroft Ave. , was granted. An application of the Municipal Light Dept, for one pole loca- tion on Aubµrn St. , was granted. An application was received from Clarence Brown and Ralph W. Smith for the approval of a layout of Beacon St. ,Extension by the Board of Survey, No plan was submitted, however, and no action could be taken, Upon request of the office force, it was voted to purchase an electric fan. A letter was received from Dennis Dennehy demanding that water _z_ be furnished at his premises. The Chairman volunteered to write him ' enumerating the requirements necessary before the law will allow the Board to furnish the desired water. A letter was received from Robert Chesley concerning the cons- truction of a sidewalk in front of his property and the Board decided to look the situation over before action. Upon complaint of B. W. Whitney the Board voted to investigate drainage conditions near his property on Summer Ave. A letter was received from Winthrop Parker regarding conditions of the sidewalk in front of his property on Main St. These are to be investigated. Letters urging repairs at the ball field were received from Mr. Aldred and Mr. Russmann and it was voted to make necessary repairs. A petition of the N.E.T. & T. Co, for the location of seven poles on Prospect St.,between Woburn and Aing Sts, was granted. A petition of the Malden and Melrose Gas Co. , to lay mains on Willow St. , from Lowell St. , westerly to R.' R. tracks, on Henzie St. , and on Grove St. ,from Lowell St. ,easterly, was granted. A petition of G. W. Ives of Summer Ave. ,for a sewer on Boyce St. , was taken under advisement. A true copy. Attest; (Signed) Harold W. Putnam Secretory
