HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-05-10 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. .+ May 10, 1929 Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at 7:30 P.M. Present were: Samuel H. Davis Miles C. Higgins . , Martin B. Hartshorn William T. Fairclough Harold W. Putnam and the Superintendent A letter was received from the State Dept. of Public Works advising that no money could be given for assistance on Pearl St:, this year. - A letter was received from F. E. Boyers, Sec. of the Plan- ning Board requesting a conference and it was voted to advise him that this Board would hold such a conference on Friday, May 24th at 8:00' P.M. A request for en estimate on a granolithic sidewalk was received from Norman W. Haines of Thorndike St. An application was received for a curb on Summer Ave. ,from James Carleton who stated his willingness to pay one half the cost of same. It was voted to install this curb and it was referred to the Supt. to take its regular course. Applications form the Malden and Melrose Gas Co. , to lay mains in Hampshire St. ,from North Main St. ,easterly and in Waverly Road from Ridge Road to Wellington Road were approved. Upon petition of the residents of North Main St. ,it was voted to construct a sidewalk from the present one on the easterly side of the street northerly as far as $1,000, would premit. -z- Mr. Merrill presented a plan of proposed drainage on his property of. Vine St. ,and requested the Boards approval but action was deferred until more suitable plans can be prepared, . It was voted to advise F. A. godiard that conditions on his property off Oak St. , do not warrant piping the ditch of which he recently complained. It was voted to advise Dr. M. E. Brandt that a permanent sidewalk would be constructed in front of his property of Main St. ,if he would consat to pay one-half the cost.. A true copy. Attest; (Signed) Harold W.putnam Secretary
