HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-04-04 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass, April 4, 1929 Meeting of the Board of Public Work was held this day at 7:30 P.M. There were present: Samuel H. Davis Myles C. Higgins Martin B. Hartshorn Wm. T. ?airclough Harold W. Putnam Location for 9 poles on West St. from Oak St. , northerly, was granted as well as 11 poles on West St. , from South St. , northerly. Conditions of the road surface near the Mineral St. ,bridge was discussed and a complaint regarding drainage conditions near Cann' s resturant was considered, but no definite action taken. Orders of Taking were passed, covering all street accented by the Town at the last Town Meeting, copies of which are attached. Drainage rights were also taken covering drainage systems now in existance of Pennsylvania Ave. ,and California Road and off Wends St. ,copies of which are attached. Town of Reading LAYING OUT OF LEE STREET ORDM OF TARING At a meeting of the Board of Public W orks of the Town of Reading held this day of ""`"� 1929, it is ordered: SHER ]AS the Board of Public W orks of the said Town of Reading having determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require that a town way be laid out as and in the location hereinafter described which is sub^tantially the present location of a private way known as Lee Street, from Vine Street northwesterly, and having complied with the requirements of law_mNKS relating to notice did on the 15th day of February 1929, lay out such town way accordingly, and duly filed their report thereof with the boundary and measurements of the same in the office of the Town Clerk of said Town on the16",h day of Feb, 1929, and WHEREAS at a town meeting dull called, warned and held the 11th day of Parch 1929, in accordance with the provisions of lax applicable thereto, it was voted to accept the report of the said Board laying out the said way and to accept the laying out of said way as therein set forth, NOW THEREFORE we, the undersigned, being at least a majority of the Board of Public "Works of the said Town of Reading duly elected, qualified and acting as such, do hereby under and by virtue of the provisions of Chapter 79 of the General Laws and of any and every other power and authority us hereto in any way enabling, take the right or easement to use for all the nur- noses of a town way for the use of said Town of Reading, the LEE STREET (2) land in said torn, bounded and described as follows: LES STREET, being a certain dtreet in the Town of Reading running northerly from the present town way known as Vine Street, and being the same street unnaned as shown on a "Plan of Land in Reading surveyed for George W. Hunt" , dated Haroh 30, 1899, made by James A. Bancroft, c.urveyor. The EASTERLY side line of eaid Lee Street commences at a point on the northerly side line of said Vine S treet, said point being S. 77-26 w . , a distance of 237.08 feet, meacured along the said northerly line of Vine :street from a stone bound marking the corner of said Vine Street, and a Town Way known as High Street. Thence with a curve in a northerly direction, with a radius of 20.00 feet, a dietance of 31.44 feet to a point of tangent: Thence N. 12-30 w . , a distance of 468.75 feet to a stone bound set in the :,all and at the end of thi layout: The WESTERLY side line of said Lee Street, commences at a point of curve on the Northerly side line of Vine Street, a distance of 79.94 feet, and S. 77-26 w. , from the point of beginning of the Easterly side line. Thence with a curve in a northerly direction with a radius of 20.00 feet, a distance of 31.39 feet to a point of tangent: Thence W. 12-30 w. , a distance of 454.64 feet to a drill hole set in a boulder in a stone wall and at the end of this layout. The last described line is parallel with and forty feet distant from the second described line, designating the Easterly sideline. Said land is shown upon a plan and profile made by Dade & Abbott, dated November 1928, filed in the office of the Town Clerk with our report aforesaid as a part thereof, a copy of which plan is to be recorded herewith. Town of Reading LAYING OUT OF RIDGE ROAD ORDER OF TAKING At a meeting of the Board of Public 4 orks of the Town of Reading held this day of �e�a"'`'( 1929 it is ordered: MiEREAS the Board of Public B orks of the said Town of Reading having determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require that a town way be laid out as and in the location hereinafter described =hich is substantially the present location of a private way known as Ridge Road, from vain St. westerly, and having complied with the requirements of law relating to notice did on the 15th day of February, 1929, lay out such Town 71 ay accordingly, and duly filed their report thereof with the boundary and measurements of the same in the office of the Town Clerk of said Town on the 16th day of February, 1929, and M, MREAS at a town maeting duly called, warned and held the 11th day of March, 1929, in accordance with the provisions of law applicable thereto, it was voted to accent the report of the said Board laying out the said way and to accept the laying out of said way as therein set forth. Bancroft Civil E ngineer, dated Nov. 1, 1911. The SOUTHERLY line of said Ridge Road commences at a point on the aeeterly side line of said Main Street, said point being S. 4- 31- 50 E. , a distance of 341.70 feet from a 91aaeachusetts Highway Bound marking an angle in said ^resterly line. From thence the said Southerly line runs on a bearing of S. 85-28-10 W. , a distance of 183.50 feet to a point of curve: Thence on a curve to the LEFT with a radius of 162.30 feet, a length of 242.47 feet to a point of tangent: Thence S. 0-09-10 W. , a distance of 159.10 feet to the southerly side line of a private way known as Cold Spring Road and at the end of this layout. The intersection of the said southerly line of Ridge Road with the said westerly line of Main Street id hereby rounded with a curve of 20 foot radius and length of 31. 42 feet. The NORTHERLY line of said Ridge Road is parallel with and Forty feet distant from the first described bearing of the southerly line and runs a distance of 255.00 feet to the easterly side line of a private way known as W averley Road. And the intersection of said Northerly line with the said westerly line of Main Street, and the intersection with the said easterly line of Waverly Road are each hereby rounded with a curve of 20 foot radius and length of 31.42 feet. The said NORTHERLY line is further described as extending on the last described bearing a distance of Forty feet atrose the southerly end of said Waverly Road to the westerly side thereof, thence N. 4-31-50 W. , a distance of 50.00 feet to a point of curve on the said westerly side line of Waverly Road.
