HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-03-29 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. March 29, 1929 ' Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at 7:30 P.M. There were present: Samuel H. Davis Myles C. Higgins Martin B. Haryshorn Wm.T. Fairclough Harold W. Putnam Action was taken on the recommendation of the Superintendent for salary increases to various workmen and some increases were granted to several. Mr. Prepay and two others appeared before the Board and complained about drainage conditions on Green St. ,east of Main St. , . It was shown that most of the water flowing onto his property came from other private property and he was told the Board had no jurisdiction. ' The Supt, was instructed to investigate conditions at the junction of Green and Main Sts. ,to see if water flowing down Main St. , could not be made to continue on Main St. , rather than turning down Green St. A request for new office machinery and fixtures was received and was referred back to him for further information. It was voted to purchase a new truck for the street foreman. Reconsideration of application of Geo. W. Davis for inprovements at the corner of Willow and Lowell Sts. ,was taken and it was voted to install a curbing at this corner. Drainage conditions near the corner of West and Lewis Sts.,was considered and referred to the Town Counsel for advice. , Voted to construct a sidewalk on the east side of Prescott St. , if the residents do so desire, believing this will remedy a drainage -2- condition complained of by Wm. H. Kimball, 36 Prescott St. ' Upon verbal application of Lucia C. Stafford the time for pay- ment of the water bill for number 6 Arborway was extended to April 10th by vote of the Board.
