HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-01-25 Board of Public Works Minutes January 25, 1929 Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day in the Town Building at seven-thirty P.M. There were present; Harry N. Brown Miles C. Higgins Martin B. Hartshorn Harold W. Putnam Samuel H. Davis, and the Superintendent. A letter was received from the Heading Realty Trust request- ing this Board to allow sidewalks four feet wide to be installed on the Streets in Westwood Park Development instead of five feet wide and the Board, after considering the same, granted this request. The Board voted to abate the sewer and water bills for 1927-28 charged to the property, 54 Prospect Street owned by Samuel DuMoulin. It was voted to purchase the oil for the use of the several departments under the furisdicition of this Board for the year 1929 from S. R. Stembridge Company. Upon the hearing of the petition of the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company for the location of two poles on Mt. Vernon Street, from a point approximately 103.5 Westerly from School Street and run- ning Westerly, Mr. Jarvis appeared for information before the petition was granted and the Board held the petition in abeyance for further investigation. The ,joint petition of the New EnPland Telephone & Telegraph Company and the Municipal Light Department for relocation of five poles on Linden Street from Haven Street to Woburn Street; fifteen poles, -Z- Orange Street from Harrison Street to Winter Street: two poles Union Street from John Street westerly: four poles High Street from Woburn Street to Chute Street; four po'bs Gould Street from Haven Street Easterly; one pole Gould Street from Ash Street Northwesterly; also remove one pole, were granted by the Board, The petition of the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company to lay and maintain underground conduits and manholes in North Main Street, continuing the present conduit from Salem Street to the North Reading line, approximately 14,397 feet, was granted by the Board, Mr, Batten, 119 Howard Street, appeared before the Board requesting the Board to approve and recommend to the Town the accept- ance of Howard Street Extension and the Board took the same under consideration and notified him that if he would cause to have inserted in the Town Warrant an article for the acceptance of this Street, ' calling for an appropriation of $100,00 for the cost of plans and survey, that the Board would not oppose the article. .
