Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town
Building at seven-thirty P .M. '
There were present:-
Harry N. Brown
Martin B. Hartshorn
Samuel H. Davis, and the
Superintendent.
A- letter was received from Mr. George E. Lang complaining that
the surface water from Eliot Street drains on Mr. Lang' s property at
the junction of Green Street and he was informed that the Board would
cause the pipe on Eliot Street to be cleaned out and build up the
sidewalk between Green and Washington Streets to improve this
situation.
Representative Louis Ellemwood appeared before the Board
requesting the Board to assist the Boston & Maine Railroad to
macadamize the highway on the East side of the Railroad Station '
and he was notified that this was private property and the Town
had no authority to work on private property, but would be willing
to rent the steam roller to assist the Boston & Main Railroad in
this matter at a charge of about $2. 50 an hour.
The Board signed the Order of Taking of land of George L.
Downing, at the intersection of Woburn and West Streets and caused
the same to be recorded in the South District Registry of Deeds,
together with a copy of the plan.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was
VOTED: To purchase a Bristol long distance electric transmitting
s
and receiving system for use in connection with the stand pipe water
level, and to engage the Municipal Light Department to install the ,
same. The estimate for installing was $1,111. 57 and the cost of
the guage $267.00.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was
July 6, 1928. Cont.
VOTED: To extend the main line of the sewer on Pleasant
Street up to the property of Herbert W. Hunt.
Upon Motion duly made and seconded, it was
VOTED: To meet every other week during the months of July
and August, 1928.
