Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the ,
Town Building at seven-thirty P.M.
There were present:-
Harry N. Brown
Miles C. Higgins
Martin B. Hartshorn
Harold W. Putnam
Samuel H. Davis, and the
Superintendent.
Mr. E. C. Metcalf made application to the Board for a curbing
at the function of John and Pleasant Streets for the purpose of
preventing the water from washing away-the sidewalk in front of
the premises owned by Harold R. Metcalf at 42 John Street, and
this application was granted and he was duly notified.
Mr. R. W. Woodward submitted a plan of Weston Road for approval
of the Board acting as a Board of Survey. '
Three representatives of the Morse Land Company, $11
Westminster Street, Providence, Rhode Island, submitted a rough
draft of a proposed development on Grove Street and requested of
the Board certain information with reference to the rules and
regulations of the Board of Survey.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Cushing, 42 Howard Street, appeared
before the Board complaining of the condition of the street in
front of their premises , caused by water standing in the street
from the culvert, and they were informed .that the Board would take
the necessary action to improve this condition.
The Board voted to fix the friveways to the New Junior High
School, the payroll and cost of materials to be paid by the School '
Department.
It was voted to place an edge stone -at the north and south
corners of Federal and Highland Streets.
The Board voted to purchase 300 gross tons of coal for the
needs of the Water Department from Percy N. Sweetser, who submitted
a price of $6.99 per gross ton delivered at the Pumping Station, upon
the express understanding and condition that the coal would be of
high grade quality and up to the same standard of quality as the
shipment delivered to the Pumping Station on the second day of
April, 1928.
